Mediation

What is Mediation?

Voluntary / Confidential / Safe / Cost Effective / Impartial.

Family mediation is a way of giving you the control to make your own decisions during separation or divorce. Our mediators are independent and help you and your ex make agreements about vital issues such as parenting arrangements, money and property.

Mediation is an entirely voluntary process and every aspect of it remains confidential, until both parties reach an agreement and apply for a consent order. If you don’t come to an agreement nothing discussed in mediation can ever be used in court against or for you.

With the help of our impartial mediator, couples find ways to communicate better and reduce conflict between them as a result of our family mediation service, helping them to find their own solutions to their issues.

Our mediation process is less stressful, far quicker, and produces better outcomes for you and your family at, importantly a fraction of the cost of the traditional legal process.

Our mediators are skilled and knowledgeable in helping you identify the information you need to make decisions. They do not give advice. That’s because that would affect their impartiality and could be very uncomfortable for participants.

The mediator will provide a safe and neutral space, either in person or online for the parties to work towards an agreement that they are happy with and that will work.

Before any mediation session is conducted both parties will be required to sign a document detailing their “Agreement to Mediate”. This form sets out the principles of mediation and the conduct expected.

What will our mediators do for you?

  • They will provide access to helpful information with sign posting to facilitate your conversations and negotiations.
  • They will ensure neither person dominates discussions and ensure sure that there are no power imbalances occurring that can affect the outcome.
  • They will stress test any agreements that are reached so that everyone knows they can work and should be accepted in a consent order by a court.
